Lube Sued

April 21, 2007 -- Consumer giant Unilever slapped the maker of two personal lubricants - "Boy Butter" and "You Won't Believe It's Not Boy Butter" - with a lawsuit yesterday for infringing on the trademark of their popular margarine.
The lubes, aimed at gay men, feature similar packaging, logos and lettering as "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" and "Country Crock" products.
The lube makers at B.B.L. Inc. have even parodied the famous commercials featuring a man's and a woman's hands at the breakfast table, according to the suit filed in Manhattan federal court.
In the spoof ad, featured on the company's Web site, two sets of male hands are seen in a kitchen, buttering up with lube as a voiceover extols the virtues of "You Won't Believe It's Not Boy Butter."
Unilever wants B.B.L. to stop producing the lube, recall all their products and turn over their profits to Unilever.
