John Travolta blames pills for school shootings

JOHN Travolta blames Virginia Tech, Columbine and all the other tragic school shootings not on the psychos who committed the heinous acts - but on psychiatric drugs. "I still think that if you analyze most of the school shootings, it is not gun control. It is [psychotropic] drugs at the bottom of it," Travolta told W. But the "Hairspray" film star won't be jumping on couches over the issue or attacking Matt Lauer as his fellow Scientologist, Tom Cruise, did last year: "I don't disagree with anything Tom says. Some gay fans of the original “Hairspray” movie want to leave the remake in the can. John Travolta is starring in an update of the 1988 camp classic which is due to come out next month, and some gay leaders are calling for a boycott of the film because Travolta’s religion has a tough stand on homosexuality. “Travolta, a prominent Scientologist, has no business reprising an iconic gay role, given his [religion’s] stance on gay issues,” notes Kevin Naff, managing editor of the gay-oriented Washington Blade. “It’s well known that Scientology rejects gays and lesbians as members and even operates reparative therapy clinics to ‘cure’ homosexuality.” Travolta plays mom Edna Turnblad in the flick — a role originally played by drag queen Divine. Do all dead end roads lead to Scientology? Paris Hilton's would-be savior Sheriff Lee Baca happens to be a huge supporter not only of Paris, but of Scientology! He has appeared at numerous Scientology fund-raising events and functions. He supports and promotes their front group Narcanon, and last year was picketed at his home by residents of Leona Valley who didn't want a Narcanon facility in their town. If you still doubt that he's a Scientology puppet - this photo of Baca on the Scientology float in the Hollywood Christmas parade should clarify everything! Is Scientology being taught in public schools?

With the help of John Travolta, educational techniques developed by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard are being used in a Louisiana public school, according to Florida’s St. Petersburg Times.

In the mayhem that followed Hurricane Katrina, Celebrity Scientologists, including Travolta and Isaac Hayes, “played key roles” in persuading Prescott Middle School in Louisiana to adopt a Hubbard program called Applied Scholastics, reports the St. Petersburg Times.

Defenders of the program say that students’ scores have improved since it has been put in use — and insist that Applied Scholastics has nothing to do with Scientology, other than the man who created it.

Critics, however, disagree. Teaching the studying technique is “covert religious instruction” Dave Touretsky, a research professor at Carnegie Mellon University, told the Times, and he said that using it in schools could be unconstitutional. Source

An aspiring starlet who wants to lose her virginity on camera is taking Katee Holmes as her nom de porn, and Katie Holmes isn't liking it one bit. The young Katee says that taking Mrs. Cruise's name is a "tribute to Katie," according to Page Six, because Katie has always portrayed "an innocence" in everything she's done. (Except that topless scene in "The Gift," of course.) The fake Katee is planning to lose it on camera, among other activities, and Katie and husband Cruise are reportedly considering their options against the young "Holmes."

Katie Holmes Cruise is reportedly miffed because her husband Tom NEVER lets her leave the house alone with her baby Suri. She ALWAYS has to have a minder with her. Katie lamented "What does he think - that I want to run away with Suri?" Hmmm. Of course, that may be the LEAST of her problems. Tom just bought a new Beverly Hills home and we were told he plans to have four Scientology minders living conveniently in the guest house. Plus, we're hearing that his Scientologist mother and sister are planning to move into the big house with Tom and Katie. Katie had better get used to not having much privacy!

Tommy snubbed!

Tom Cruise is still smarting from the snub New York Mayor Bloomberg gave him when the mayor declined to honor Cruise for his contributions to what is called the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project. 780 ailing Trade Center rescue workers have already undergone the "purification" treatment that involves megadoses of vitamins and hours in the sauna. The "Project" is a front for Scientology and the mayor felt they had nothing to do with legitimate science. Tom was in New York Thursday for a fund raiser for this group and tickets sold for $6,250 apiece. Just WHO attended the benefit is not known yet, because press was not invited. (We're guessing wealthy Scientologists.) But the city of New York supposedly donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the organization before they realized what it was. Neither the NYPD or the FDNY supports the group but Tom insists his organization has proved that "recovery for the afflicted Ground Zero workers is possible." And recruitment to Scientology is possible too! Source

Despite slamming rumors that she is considering a conversion to Scientology, the gossip mill is spinning after Jennifer Lopez referred to a Scientology principle during her appearance on American Idol this week. When asked what she thought of the judges' critiques of performances, Lopez said she believed that "concentrating on the rightness brings more rightness." "Rightness" is apparently a Scientology buzzword and appears in a couple of founder L. Ron Hubbard's manifestoes: "Rightness and Wrongness" and "Recognition and Rightness of Being."
